Release of ‘Popular Birds of Mizoram’

On December 15, 2015, Hon. Lal Thanhawla, the Chief Minister of Mizoram, released the book ‘Popular Birds of Mizoram’ authored by Dr. H. Lalthanzara and Dr. Raju Kasambe at Pachhunga University College, Aizawl. Appreciating the endeavour of the authors of the book, CM expressed hope that the same would contribute to eco-tourism industry in the state. The book was supported by Bombay Natural History society through an IBCN Small Grant.

Lal Ramthanga, Principal Secretary and PCCF who previewed the book, said it took two years for the authors to come out with the book. The book, written in English but names of the birds are also given in Mizo language, contains descriptions of 208 species of birds found in Mizoram.

Lalram Thanga said that Mizoram is included among important places in India which are homes to a great variety of birds. Also he lamented that not much study or research has been conducted on the birds in Mizoram. The release function was chaired by Dr. Tawnenga, Principal, Pachhunga University College.
